15 Criteria to be Classed as a Mega Church

A megachurch is a church with an unusually large membership, who also offer a variety of educational and social activities, usually Protestant or Evangelical. The Hartford Institute for Religion Research defines a megachurch as any Protestant Christian church having 2,000 or more people in average weekend attendance.

15 Criteria to be Classed as a Mega Church

1. A Mega church can be assessed by the quality of supportive ministers, that is, Assistant Pastor, Associate Pastors, Men Leader, Women Leader, Youth Leader, Chorister, Ushering Department, Welfare Department who are been trained to serve under the supervision of the Shepherd whom God had placed as the head of the ministry (1Samuel 2:35).

2. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive ministers are concerned and committed to church building, finance and members welfare (Neh. 42:20).

3. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive ministers are faithful in the little position where the Lord wisely place them, learning the value and importance of service and growing in character (Luke 16:10-12).

4. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive ministers are all serving the Lord in oneness, love, unity, respect and placing value on one another, irrespective of their position in the church.

5. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive ministers do their service as unto the Lord. God want us to have an attitude of commitment and excellence toward all our work. He wants us to do everything we do as unto Him (Col. 3:22-24).

6. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive ministers develop the heart of a Shepherd, that is, caring, loving and guiding the sheep (Matt. 9:36).

7. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive ministers abandon their personal ambitions, visions, desires and begin to reflect the goal, vision and mission statement of the ministry in their services to the Lord (John 3:30).

8. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive minister has a Shepherd’s heart, he will always consider the good of the church in his decision and actions (Matt. 12:33).

9. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive minister is devoted to Jesus and God’s word, he maintain a personal relationship with Jesus and place value in the study of God’s word. That will mould his character, action, attitude toward his service to the Lord (John 8:32; 11 Timothy 2:16).

10. A church is classed as a mega church when a supportive minister demonstrates his love and service for God and his service is translated into positive achievements, such as faithful attendance and diligent service.

11. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive ministers work in harmony and prepared to flow with new idea that the visionaire (Head Pastor) will come up with; while always maintaining a submissive and respectful attitude (11 Kings 5:11).

12. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive minister has the burden for soul winning and fulfilled the great commission (Matt. 28:18; Psalm 68:11).

13. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive minister has a burden for spiritual growth of the church by setting aside a day for fasting and prayer for the need of the ministry (Neh. 1:1-4).

14. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive minister serve based on the awareness of God’s purpose where God has wisely placed them in the ministry.

15. A church is classed as a mega church when supportive minister learn to flow with the personality and leadership style of the senior pastor, catch the vision and work with it.
