Pastor Adeboye and and Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II are too honourable men. While pastor Adeboye is a man of God, Oba Adeyeye is man of the people. Adeboye as a pastor is a representative of Jesus Christ believed to be the king of kings.
Pastor Adeboye is the General Overseer of the Redeemd Christian Church of God, RCCG. Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II is the Ooni of Ife.
Some years back, Pastor Adeboye visited the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Ooni. The king, in his bid to show that pastor Adeboye is greater than him, decided to offer the highest royal chair usually meant for the king to the RCCG pastor. The king took the lowest seat beside the pastor.
It was reported that Pastor Adeboye protested, but the king insisted the RCCG pastor could have his seat. Reluctantly, the man of God sat on the seat.
The Ooni was reportedly quoted to have said that Pastor Adeboye was representing God in his palace, hence deserved the greatest seat.
On the occasion, Pastor Adeboye, shared few words with the Ooni and also prayed that God would help and guide the Ooni and the Kingdom of Ife.
This did not go down well with some Yoruba traditional rulers because it is believed to be against the Yoruba culture.
According to Yoruba culture, it is a taboo for anyone to seat on the Ooni’s seat except they’ve gone through the rituals that proclaims them as kings or acting in place of a King.
