Prophet can be best described as a person regarded as an inspired teacher or proclaimer of the will of God.
Nigeria has produced many prophets who have contributed immesenly to the humanity.
Their contributions are too numerous to mention and up till today their work still speaks for them.
Our investigative team at Glitter News Online analyzed four greatest Nigerian Prophets and their mysterious deaths.
Here are the Prophets who made our list:
1. MOSES ORIMOLADE TUNOLASE
Moses Orimolade Tunolase is the founder of the first African initiated church, the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, which was established in 1925. The church was born out of the African Church founded by J.K Coker a former Church warden in Breadfruit church of Anglican communion among the Yoruba people in Western Nigeria.
His mysterious death
Moses Orimolade died on October 19, 1933, at Ojokoro, where the first Aladura church was built and he instructed his followers to exhume his body forty years after his death and bury him in his hometown, Ikare, Akoko in Ondo State. His body was exhumed after 40 years, but not without another surprise. Orimolade’s body was said to be fresh and intact without decay, while his clothes were as white as snow.
2. APOSTLE AYODELE BABALOLA
Joseph Ayo Babalola was the first General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church, popularly called CAC in Nigeria. He was credited with healing powers.
HIS MYTERIOUS DEATH
He was one of the first and few prophet of God that have the grace to know when they will die, as he predicated his death in 1957 for his disciple at ikere Ekiti during his 3 days fasting and prayer with them.
Another fact was that, before he even took the ministry, there was prophecy that he was going to work for God for just 30 years before he will be call upon by God. He took the full ministry after his baptising in 1929 at the age of 25 ages and deid at the age of 55 years in 1959 and that same year his ministry clock 30 years
3. Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa – Founder, The Celestial Christian Church of God
He was the founder of the Celestial Church of Christ after reportedly resurrecting people from the dead. He founded the church in 1947 after being lost for three months near Porto-Novo in Benin. The church now has its main offices in Bénin and Nigeria. Five percent, or 400,000, of the 8,0 people of Benin are Celestial Christians. Oshoffa was reported to have had 14 wives and 54 children when he died in 1985 although some say these figures are high.
Oshoffa mysterious death
Oshoffa died on 10 September 1985 after being involved in a car accident where everyone in the car died. He was buried at Celestial City, Imeko.
4. Akindayomi, Josiah Olufemi, founder,
Redeemed Christian Church of God
Nigeria
Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi was the founder and first general overseer of what is today known as the Redeemed Christian Church of God. The church, today acclaimed as the fastest growing Pentecostal church in the world, started in 1947 as an independent prayer fellowship, the Glory of God Fellowship. This group blossomed into the Redeemed Christian Church of God in 1952.
Akindayomi’s death
Akindayomi died in 1980 at the age of 71. Thereafter Pastor Adeboye’s appointment was formalized and he has since been the general overseer of the church.
