Bishop Mike Okonkwo Shares His Thoughts on The Sad Thing About Modern Day Christianity – See What He Said!

The presiding Bishop of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) Bishop Mike Okonkwo has shared his thoughts on what he considers the sad thing about modern day Christianity.

In the message televised live to a global audience, Okonkwo backgrounded first with the assurance of every word of God and promise to His people, which he said comes to fulfilment at the fullness of time

Bishop Okonkwo said it is the tendency to spend time on things not the core, but on things of secondary importance, that he considers sad about modern day Christianity.

According to him, as much as all the merriment associated with Christmas and New Year are good and welcome, they should not however take the place of the primary message of godly presence in Christians.

The presence of God, he said, makes all other desirable things gravitate towards the believer.

“Thank God for all the presents, but all the presents would soon become old…the question is: do you have His presence. If He is in you, there is no way you will not recover the things which you have lost”, he declared as an example.

He added that given the prevailing atmosphere in Nigeria, nothing could be wiser than seeking the presence of God.

The presence of God he said, was what made the difference in the lives of Bible heroes like Jesus, David, Joseph and Mary, Jesus’ earthly parents; Peter the apostle, Meshak, Shedrach and Abednego and also Peter.

He wondered for example, what qualified a poor couple, Joseph and Mary, as parents of the savior, if not Godly presence.

Aside where Jesus was born, their use of turtle doves in His dedication when there were other animals of higher financial value, again underscored their modest financial mean, yet they had the presence of God.
