Bishop T.D Jakes and Amazon Freevee Partner to Launch On-Demand, Streaming Channel

Amazon Freevee and T.D Jakes are launching a streaming channel and an on-demand service sharing 300 hours of Jakes’ programming from the last 45 years of his ministry.

The two-year deal between the Dallas megachurch founder and the streaming service is set to launch Dec. 1, with sermons, interviews and other-faith-based broadcasts from Jakes’ decades of production.

Jakes’ megachurch, The Potter’s House, is non-denominational with more than 30,000 members. It’s often ranked as one of the most influential churches in the U.S. An anniversary celebration last year of his ministry includes celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Maria Shriver.

He has frequently used television, film and music as revenue streams for the church. He previously produced eight Christian-themed films that grossed a total of almost $180 million in revenue. He also produces music through record label Dexterity Sounds, which recently released an album combining gospel, inspirational and secular music from artists such as Timbaland, Sheila E. and Tamar Braxton.

“I’m proud to illustrate to the world how ministry and philanthropy can be done in an ever-evolving culture,” Jakes said in a statement about the partnership. “Though what we’ve been able to achieve with this launch is unprecedented, our mission to positively affect lives by reducing limitations on how people can be ministered to remains our North Star.”

The free, ad-supported streaming channel plans to launch early 2023 on Amazon Freevee and within Prime Video.
