Christian leaders are falling away in our modern culture – Pastor Poju Oyemade

Today, we hear of visible Christian leaders who publicly come out to say they have renounced their faith in Christianity and in some cases do not even believe in the existence of God or at best Christianity as it is being practiced.

It is written that in the last days many shall depart from the faith, this however shouldn’t make us fold our arms and castigate people without searching whether our doctrines, the way we have organized our ministries and the way we conduct our lives particularly those of us who preach the principles of Christ have had any impact on this.

Reading through some of the articles written by these individuals as to why they jumped ship, one realizes they had unanswered questions in their heart about the understanding of Christ, his message the plight of the masses.

Some of these people grew up in the ranks of prominent ministries and held leadership positions. Question is how did this happen with them secretly nurturing questions and disbelief about certain things which they visibly appeared to practice.

I firmly believe this, God is available and willing to answer the deepest questions anyone may have about his or her faith and its practice. We all run into some situations where what we may have been taught or understood isn’t producing what was promised, it is at the juncture you have the opportunity to personally discover God and have Him unveiled to you.

Job had this kind of encounter with revelation when in crisis he discovered God and said what I previously knew of you God was what I heard others say but now I see you by myself.

Job 42:5-6
“I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”

When Jesus was going to emphasize the importance of revelation knowledge, he showed it comes as an answer to a personal quest. He asked them first what they had heard of him then he asked them what do you believe.

Matthew 16:13-18
“When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

It is important that people do not just feel that belief systems are being forced upon them and when they ask genuine questions they are laughed at as being ignorant or not “a Word man” simply because he asks a question about some contradiction he sees.

The fear of being mocked has made many push on when they had questions. I have discovered to stop and ask God. My loyalty is not to any movement or emphasis, it is to Christ and the entire Body and not some sect.

Some even stifle thought development by quickly posting up what a great man of God has said so as to make anyone who is asking genuine questions or searching appear disrespectful and rebellious while they plow on.

When you do have questions kindly go to God in prayer and ask him to give you the answer from the Scriptures in an infallible way by a line upon line teaching, precept upon precept. He is God and he knows how to dissolve every doubt. If Daniel could in his time you also can but it is by going to God in prayer.

Daniel 5:12 “Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.”
