Folks, in your marriage, seek peace and pursue it with all diligence in this new year (1 Peter 3:11). I KNOW there are some argumentative and perhaps troublesome spouses out there, still try your best to be the bigger person. It takes at least two people to fight, to argue, to quarrel, etc so don’t give in.
When one person is determined to do the right thing, it can easily stop any conversation from escalating. You can’t change the character, attitude or conduct of your spouse, so focus on how you conduct your own self. When you know better, do better.
Speak calmly, respond in love, be understanding, overlook mistakes. In short, cultivate the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) and express it at every opportunity. Proper conduct will more than likely provoke him/her to follow your lead. Please note: it doesn’t mean any issues shouldn’t be discussed and resolved. No marriage can work well if you don’t effectively communicate and see eye to eye on important matters regarding your family life.
