I was Asked To Put ‘Juju’Inside My Cloth During AFCON 2013 But I Trusted God – Super Eagle Former Goalkeeper

Super Eagles legendary goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has come out to reveal that he was asked to use voodoo during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria won the Africa Cup of Nations against all odds withstanding Burkina Faso, Zambia, Ethiopia, Mali and Ivory Coast to become African Champions for the third time.

However, the road to victory was not smooth as the team struggled in their first two games against Burkina Faso and Zambia before facing Ethiopia in a do or die last group game.

Two late goals from the penalty spot by Victor Moses were all Nigeria needed to overcome the impressive Eastern Africans but there was much more that happened behind the scene.

Eight years after the tournament, stand-in skipper Vincent Enyeama has decided to share the story about how he was advised by a prominent personality in the sporting industry to use black power.

According to the former Enyimba International goalie in a lengthy conversation reported by Brila.net, the person told him that as the skipper of the team, he should put something inside his cloth.

But as the prayer leader of the team, he turned down the sacred offer, stood his ground and had the confidence that such won’t be necessary for Nigeria to progress.

“Someone very prominent came to me, he said Vincent you’re the captain of the team, “I wan give you something make you put for cloth enter this Ethiopia match.”

“I told him I won’t and if I didn’t believe we could win fair; if I didn’t believe we could win against Ethiopia, I would have gone back and go home.”
