A sad Sunday it was for Nigerians as we woke up to the news of a young girl raped and killed in a church premises.
Police brutality is the major news happening across the World, last week Friday, news broke in the country concerning a young girl named Tina killed by a Nigerian Police officer, just as the news was gaining attention, a young girl was rapped and killed in the premises of a popular church in Nigeria.
Miss Uwaiala Omozuwa, a 100 level Student of University of Benin was raped in her church of service while she was there reading. According to reports, Miss Uwa who was a chorister in a RCCG branch in Benin usually goes to the church during the lockdown to study. She was found lying on the floor covered in blood by the security guard who resumed in the evening of 27th of May.
The General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye earlier on Issued a statement condemning the act and praying for the family of late Miss Uwa Omozuwa.
“All I can do at this time is to pray for the family of Omozuwa and do everything possible working with relevant authorities to bring the perpetrators to book. I and members of my Family condemn this act strongly and urge everyone to stay calm as we are already looking into the matter and cooperating with the police to establish the facts of the shocking incident.#justice4Uwa” He wrote
Apostle Suleiman Johnson , Founder of Omega Ministries has also Volunteered to give out a million Naira to whoever can provide reliable information concerning the death of the young lady.
“I would give N1million to anyone willing to provide reliable information to the apprehension of those behind the rape/murder of vera uwaila who was murdered in the church..” He said
