When you give too much credence to other people’s opinions, you are basically limiting your true self. You should not let people’s opinions to determine your destiny, because you do not need their permission to be the person God has created you to be.
Dr D.K Olukoya, the General Overseer Of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry, said that if your life is based on people’s opinions, you will never advance.
If your life is based on people’s opinions, it means that your self-esteem is based on what others think of you, you run around trying to please everyone with your decision, you only feel great when people approve your decisions, and you feel worthless if you are being disapproved. You end up becoming a slave to what other people want, you crush your own desire(s), you live life on people’s terms, not yours. Yet, you are the one that would be left with regret of not living a life truly authentic to who you are.
In the course of trying to please people, you mold yourself to fit the idea of what other people think you should be. You stop living to your full potentials, you no longer believe in being yourself, and you no more trust your own judgement because you assume that other people know better.
Conclusively, you will not get what you really want in life, except you learn to shut out people’s opinions, you learn to stop being emotional about what people think of you, and really tune into your true self.
