MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

On May 13, 1981, Pope John Paul II was shot four times by a Turkish man, Mehmet Ali Agca, at St. Peter’s Square, Vatican City, attempting to assassinate him publicly.

However, the Pope didn’t die and the bullets were removed after an emergency surgery where he recovered.

In 1983, two years after the shooting, to the bewilderment and disbelief of the world, the Pope visited the prison cell of his would-be assassin, prayed for and pardoned the man that almost succeeded in killing him.

In 2014, 33 years after he had shot the Pope, Agca visited the Vatican City (the same place he had committed his crime) and laid flowers on the Pope’s tomb, who had died nine years earlier in 2005.
