Pastor Kumuyi invites Nathaniel Bassey: Is Kumuyi embracing the change he once rejected

Ministry in the 21st century is beginning to inculcate new values, not necessarily to replace the systems of the old, but to complement them.

Therefore, ministries that want to remain relevant in this modern era have to align their systems and structures to fit into the mold that the modern era demands.

One of the few Nigerian ministers who has experienced a bit of the old and is still presently a highly revered participant in the modern church era is William Folorunsho Kumuyi.

Kumuyi, being an old-timer, is known for some of the values that are deeply rooted in Holiness and Sanctification, and as a result, his ministry is sometimes classified as a ministry that is usually on its league, because of the little involvement with other ministries, and mainstream media in general.

Due to this, Kumuyi and his ministry have received a bit of criticism from some key players in the Nigerian church for having little or no involvement or collaboration with other churches in the Nigerian church.

However, recent Kumuyi has given many a reason to be surprised, as his involvement with other ministers (including gospel singers) and their ministries are gradually becoming obvious.

This recent development is going in contrast to the Kumuyi’s usual mode of ministry, the cleric is not known for inviting external music ministers outside the usual choir of the DLBC.

The questions one may ask is, Why then would Kumuyi invite Nathaniel Bassey? Could this be Kumuyi’s way of embracing change in the modern era of the church, one he once rejected?
