It’s been about 23 years since the accident happened, he was the only survivor among the 40 patients rushed into the neurological department of the University Teaching Hospital in Ibadan.
We know Yinka Ayefele today fondly for his musical ability but before the successful music career began, he worked in the press with Kola Olawuyi.
Ayefele was in the employ of Mr. Olawuyi’s Kolbim Communications when he had the accident that crippled him. He was on his way to the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, OGBC, Abeokuta, where his boss, Olawuyi was to present his “Irinkerindo” programme.
It was this accident that led him into his music career.
Though, confined to a wheelchair, he hasn’t let it determine his life as he has achieved what a man not confined to a wheelchair can achieve, even more.
The situation happened in December 1997 when he was about 29 years old.
He said he has since known the undisputable essence of the spinal cord.
