Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, says he is unsure whether there will be an election in 2023.
The 80-year-old cleric stated that God has not revealed to him whether an election will take place next year.
He claimed God spoke to him more than a year before the 2019 elections, but this was not the case with the 2023 election.
He swiftly added that God may yet speak to him regarding the 2023 general elections, but has not done so yet.
The preacher stated that he is more worried about the massacres in Kaduna, oil theft, Nigeria’s sinking debt profile, and other current national issues.
Additionally, Adeboye stated that politics is not his calling and that he will never run for office.
He emphasised that he was not endorsing any presidential candidate in the run-up to the 2023 national elections.
This was stated by the elderly preacher on Sunday during the church’s monthly Thanksgiving Service.
As I stand before you today, I am still unsure whether or not there will be an election next year. Do not assert that Pastor Adeboye stated that no election would be held next year; that is not what I stated. Adeboye is unaware at the moment, thus the word “yet.”
How did you come to be unaware? because my father has not yet discussed it with me. When we last had an election, he (God) talked to me about it in June of the previous year, and here we are in April. Thus, it is not too late, but he has not yet informed me. ”
Following that, the octogenarian issued a challenge to the congregation seated before him. “He (God) must have told you—some of you who are prophets are closer to Him (God), but is there anyone here who can lift their hand to heaven and state without a doubt that an election will take place in 2023?” Adeboye asked. If you can inform us, please rise and we will applaud for a prophet.
