What I Did To Stop The Takeover Of Missionary Schools And Institutions In Kano State’ – Col. Sani Bello.
Colonel Sani Bello, a former Military governor of Kano state and a former Nigerian High commissioner to Zimbabwe, has made the allegations that when he was in office as Military Governor of Kano state. There was a lot of excitement among his commissioners about the prospect of his taking control of the missionary institutions in the state of Kano.
He said that he and others who feel that they should have jurisdiction over every part of the state got into a violent altercation about it. He claimed that the altercation was serious. Nevertheless, Colonel Bello indicated that he fought the commissioners because he believed in the notion of competing with the other institutions. He stated that this was the reason for his resistance.

He said, “When we came to government, there was this kind of excitement to take over all missionary institutions, hospitals, schools and everything. So my commissioners came and said we should take over St Louis and St. Thomas and all the missionary institutions.
I said No, they said all other states have taken over why not you? I said I’m different and when they insisted, I asked them a question, are we going to pay them compensation or we will seize it? They said we would pay compensation. Then I said why don’t we build our own and compete with them.
