Pastor Oluwasegunfunmi Oluwasinnaayomi, a Pastor at Christ Apostolic Church in a post on Facebook sends an important message to Christians on why they should stop calling their pastor daddy and his wife mummy. A lot of Christians do this out of respect and the man of God gave his reasons for saying that.
He said that your Pastor is not your daddy and his wife is not your mummy. Matthew 23:9 says “call no man your father upon the earth”. You have only one Father in heaven (God) and one father on earth (your biological father, whether or not he is a deadbeat). Remember, we reap what we sow. He said that if you focus on your Pastors more than on your poor aged parents, then don’t expect your own kids to do for you what you refused to do for your parents.
He then said that truly in Africa our culture is to respect anybody that is older than us, anybody who’s older enough to give birth to him he calls them Daddy or Mummy. However, he is saying that your biological parents deserved more than what you are giving your Pastors.
Thank so much for that great teaching, i now understand very well, i’ll never call my pastor a daddy again.
