One of the most confusing doctrine in Christianity is the doctrine of whether girls or women should wear trousers or not. So many women are confused about the issue. The popular scripture where so many churches use to restrict their members from wearing trousers is Deuteronomy 22:55 which states, “A woman shall not wear any thing that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God.“
Apostle Selman said that so many Christians just read their Bible and they never go deep to understand the main message that is conveyed by where they read. “After conducting a very deep study on this issue, I came to understand the original meaning of that passage that is causing so many confusion in Christianity”, he said.
“Deeper life cannot be like Dunamis church, neither can Living Faith Church be like Christ Embassy. Christians should understand themselves and stop using doctrines which they don’t understand to create discrimination”.
Apostle Joshua Selman in his message revealed that the word ‘pertain’ used in that Bible verse is from the Hebrew word, “keliy” which means ‘vessel’ while the word ‘man’ as used in that context is from the Hebrew word “iysh” which means ‘a soldier, or warrior’.
“Therefore, if you are to translate that verse, it means, “A soldier should not wear any vessel that is meant for a woman and a woman should not wear any cloth/armor of a warrior”, Selman said.
He stated that in those days, Israeli women were not allowed to go to war, hence, the reason God asked them never to put on armoury outfits as it is an abomination unto God. He said that Nigerians and Christians all over the world including clergyman should understand this before they begin to force people stop wearing trouser.
Apostle Joshua Selman advised Christians to dress modestly and decently rather than living in the ignorance of scriptures.
