Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God is celebrating his 80 years birthday and the whole world is rolling out the drum from all angles.
For those who are constantly under his annointing and leadership, they will definitely not be surprised that his birthday is attracting a global celebration. The man of God has over the years made himself a pathfinder for others to have a smooth sail in life.
Since he took over the rein of leadership of RCCG from its original founder, Pa Josiah Fadayomi, Adeboye has taken RCCG to a global recognition.
But listening to the man of God each time he ministers either at the Holy Ghost Night, Congress, Convention or the regular Thanksgiving Service, no one can argue the fact that the octogenarian is actually a product of grace.
According to the story that he regularly shares with his congregation, he has never planned to become a general overseer at any time. He just wanted to serve God in his own way and do whatever he can to promote and project the work of God.
As a matter of fact, there is a lifelong ambition he was racing to achieve at his very young age. Having graduated from the University ahead of many of his mates, Adeboye rose speedily to become a major force in the Academic world. At a very young age, he had obtained his masters Degree and PhD in Mathematics.
He had taken up a lecturing job at the University of Ilorin as a full time Academic Staff. At that time, he was in control of his world and everything was already at his beck and call.
According to him, his dream was to be the youngest Vice Chancellor in Nigeria. And of course, he was at the smooth path to achieve that dream as at then. But God had another plan for him. Before he realized what was happening, he had been chosen as the general overseer of RCCG, the Church that was just in its crawling stage as at then.
That was how pastor Adeboye dropped his lifelong ambition of becoming the youngest VC in Nigeria to become a GO.
The man of God has been sharing this story with his congregation on regular basis. If he had followed his ambition then and jettisoned the call of God upon his life, what would have become of him by now?
Of course, he would have retired as a vice chancellor and many people wouldn’t have heard or known much of him like it is today.
This is a great lesson to many people who failed to yield to the call of God upon their lives.
