“Christian music is not a professional thing for singers to see as a career or their business” – Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Reveals Why

The idea of gospel music being considered a career, profession or ministry is one interesting concept, commonly associated with the gospel musicians as that of preaching the word of God through music. It is often difficult to understand what exactly constitutes as a career, profession or ministry with respect to the work of gospel musicians.

In a Facebook video, the Nigerian Televangelist and General Overseer of Christ Embassy Ministry, Past Chris Oyakhilome has said Christian music can’t be constituted as a career or profession. He said a lot of people got it wrong by being of the opinion that, gospel music is a career path or a profession.

According to Pastor Chris, Christian music is supposed to be used to serve the Lord. “Christian music is not a professional thing for some singers to see as a career or their business, no. That’s not how it ought to be. Christian music is not a profession at all. It supposed to be used in serving the Lord. In many churches and in programs who sees it as a profession, that’s why such in such meetings they don’t experience the glory of God as they are called to be,” he said.
