A certain young man, Akeem Sodiq a.k.a. Labule was today made an Evangelist and Elder of the Christ Apostolic Church (Mount of Ease) Ebute Meta District coordinating Council. He was commended for his social gospel of ensuring peace and order in the vicinities of church during the church services.
Akeem, by virtue of the double ministerial designation broke the longstanding protocol of the CAC church which entails that before one is decorated into either of the offices of a minister or elder of the church must have passed some prerequisites.
According to sources close to the church, none of these guidelines as stipulated by the church’s doctrine qualified Akeem for the honour done to him.
The ceremony took place at the church’s auditorium while the pronouncement was made by the Pastor-in-charge, Pastor Adelusi and other senior ministers of the church.
Shortly after the ceremony, Akeem in a chat with our correspondent said: “Though I am practicing Muslim and I don’t think I am ready to change. However, since my base is very close to the church and the pastors and evangelists of the church are not hostile to us, myself and a host of others (Adio) volunteered to work for the church.
He further noted that, “We control vehicles to avoid obstruction. We also coordinate people during church activities. In short, we are here to maintain peace and order.”
It is not true that Akeem Sodiq (aka Labule) was made an Elder or Evangelist in the Church. As he himself admitted, he only assists in controlling traffic during Church activities. There certainly was no installation ceremony for him in the Church auditorium.
We continue to preach Christ to him and it is our hope and prayer that he will accept Christ as his Lord and Saviour.

CAC Ebutte-Meta DCC disassociates self from report of making a Muslim honorary Evangelist, Elder
Christ Apostolic Church, Mount of Ease, Ebutte-Meta Districts’ Coordinating Council (DCC) has disassociated herself from a report being shared on social media that the church made a Muslim honorary Evangelist and Elder.
Opera News, an online platform reported yesterday evening that a certain Akeem Sodiq A.K.A Labule was made an Evangelist and Elder of the Christ Apostolic Church (Mount of Ease) Ebute-Meta DCC.
The church in a statement signed by its Superintendent, Pastor Gbenga Adelusi said the man in question is a member of the Community Vigilante Group and the Church employs their services on Sundays.
He noted that they are preaching to him to accept Christ as Saviour and he has started coming to Church, they never made him honorary Evangelist or Elder.
