A social media user, Thabita, narrates how three Pastors of Mountain of Fire Ministry (MFM) chased her out of the church premises by 3 am early in the morning.

Christian is someone who follows the teaching and footsteps of Jesus Christ. But it’s quite unfortunate that some pastors are not practicing what they preach. The Holy Bible says ” thy shall not judge”, and the Bible aslo says “‘say the truth and the truth shall set you free”. I believe telling the truth is not judgement but freedom.

A social media user Francess Tabitha, took to Facebook to narrate her ugly encounter with three Pastors of Mountain of Fire Ministry (MFM) who humiliates and chased her out of the church premises in the early hour of 2am in the morning.

She wrote: “This is not a CALL OUT, there is no pain, anger or malice against this CHURCH in making this post, or at least not anymore. But this May made it 3years it happened and I just want to share. Might be a long read, just stay with me. 

Sometime May 2017, after leaving a tailors shop who had just disappointed me around Mandillas Lagos Island, I was sad, hurt, and disappointed. Let me add I was in a bad place spiritually, I was really Low. I was heading home when I passed this very Branch of MFM church. It was around 7pm as I walked past the church, its speakers blasting out one of my favourite worship songs blasting out. “You are Alpha and Omega”. I find strength in worship, and feel better after words. I walked to the security at the gate and asked him if a service was going on. He said yes. And I walked upstairs and joined the service. 

I worshipped with them, and felt alot better after some serious spiritual gymnastics. I was about leaving, when I heard this announcement “please don’t forget to come back for our NIGHT VIGIL, by 12midnight”. I thought to myself I can stay for the VIGIL, then from there go back to my tailor pick up my items and leave. They called for first timers and I stood up. I was the only first timer who came for the service, so the man who attended to me said it’s cool I want to stay for the VIGIL, that he will like the head Pastor to pray with me before I leave in the morning, and sincerely I didn’t mind. 

12am, and vigil started. Someone walks to me and says, “you are not supposed to be here we don’t know you”, I said “yeah you don’t know me, I am a first timer”. He says “it’s workers VIGIL, and you are not a worker so you have to leave” I told him it’s too late to get my place, it’s already 12:30am. He says I can go upstairs to an empty hall, pass the night and leave in the morning. I said cool. I was given those materials used in decoration, to spread on the floor and also to cover myself. I didn’t complain. I was lying down there, then dropped a message to bae to tell her all the experience and where I was precisely. 

I was deep asleep, and very cold when I felt someone kick me. What a way to wake someone. I open my eyes and saw 4 men standing by my side, including the man who told me to wait for the VIGIL and also gave me where to pass the night. First question one of them asked me is “WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT IS YOUR MISSION HERE BEFORE WE SEND FIRE TO BURN YOU” I was dazed, shuuu e reach like that. They asked me to leave the church because they don’t know me. I looked at my time it was 2am in the morning, where the heck would I be going to by that time? I told them I was encouraged to stay by one of them, and that he gave me the space, I pointed at him and he didn’t deny it. I gave them my two phones, my driver’s license, my wallet which had over 30k in it, and my ATM card too. I said to show I mean no hard hold onto those items, and by morning I will come pick them and leave.

In Lagos Island, TINUBU SQUARE or around MANDILLAS. Being on the road around 2am is same inviting robbery to yourself or even in death in the worst case. The police sees you, they must pick you or the area boys would feast on you. I reminded them how dangerous it was to be out by that time. I begged this four pastors like my life depended on it. The only one who looked sorry but helpless was the one who gave me the place to sleep. Others were mean, rude and harsh. I was not raising my voice, I was very cool in talking to them. One very short one, very short one amongst them pulls me the shirt, kicks my shoes towards the door and begins to push me. Saying the church isn’t a hotel, that I can’t stay in their church because my dressing is “WORDLY” Chelsea jersey, a black jean, and a black All stars footwear. You can imagine. 

No one should place me in this position, not like I was helpless or homeless. Next thing the one who gave me the space begs for me. The other 3 attacks him, and shuts him up. We get to the gate by these CHURCH PASTORS, opened the gate and watched me walk into the dead, cold, and dangerous night. I could have gotten robbed, killed, or even picked by some unfriendly police officers and accused of a crime, these men didn’t care. I thought at least in a time such as that, as a Christian, even if I had nowhere to get shelter, at least a church WOULD NOT be the one sending me out by almost 2:30am.”

Amadi wrote: “I had same experience 9yrs ago with same ministry in Akute Ogun state. The painful aspect is that the church sharing same fence with me so to say. I travelled for a long time& came back to my house on opening the door my head was swollen of what I couldn’t explain…I had shock waves all over me ,I just couldn’t describe. I knew this was abnormal but I managed to drop my baggage, felt lucky bcos my next door neighbors being the church were having a vigil…I strolled in& explained myself to them….they began consulting with each other after a very long time,a Lady amongst them came to ask me out of the church for same reason they gave u….workers vigil. I was stoned to a point ,I pleaded with them bcos I was afraid that night but they insisted I must leave. I left the Church praying,got back to my apartment in high spirit opened the door& prayed myself to sleep. I woke up about 8am or so the next morning…I believe God tried telling me by that experience, on my own,I can seek& find him.I really have nothing to say my dear sister….our God is not dead yet.”

Innocent ify: “My beloved sister, I am a pastor in redeem.(rccg). Look, there are wolves in sheep’s clothing sitting in leadership positions in church . And most churches are filled with satanic and wicked leaders who are very very unspiritual and highly tribalistic. Mostly this ndi ofe nmanu. Just forget them, God will judge them for their evil and wickedness against an innocent, helpless young lady that their hospitality would have made you to feel more comfortable to continue worshipping with them. I thank God for you and your kind of person. And I sincerely thank God who did not allow the enemies to rejoice over you. Shame on those three selfish, dead and blind so called leaders who ended up carnal.”

Williams Anderson: “Nawa oo…so what’s the essence of the whole vigil and praying and shouting if the so called church that preach every single day about the love of God, to be your brother’s keeper and love your neighbor can’t do same, imagine that girl got rapped or killed that night shebi all of them will be happy reading it in the news.”

Kenneth: “Na normal people wey find business and sustenance in preaching the opium of the masses to the gullible. My spiritualism is fuelled by my innermost freedom untainted by man. Am confident of my goodness. I need no church or individual to claim my spirituality and being and to be a god. My God has all the powers. Trust me.”

JoJo Muse: “I believe you 100%. I practically grew up attending that church(abt 25yrs or so). I can give different cold ass demonic antichristian encounter i experienced there. I left eventually… i started questioning religion and the whole god idea… im happy i did. Life is beautiful and full of wonder outside any form of religion.”

Frank: “These are people that keep making people believe that CHURCH is a scam but then, we Don’t actually go the church for them, it’s for the sake of Christ and their mission must fail!!.”

Hydon wrote: “This is the worst low a church/ pastors can get. So terrible and inhuman. Maybe I should add too that they’re being Nigerians. WHAT!. You actually should call them out and demand apology. Or go back to that church, and ask to give a testimony of how God saved your life as a result of the actions of their pastors, not one pastor, but 4 of them sending a worshipper out into danger. Such testimony will change souls.”

It’s quite unfortunate that many church Pastors are not leading by example, they preach the word of God without practising the word of God.
