The controversial Nigerian Televangelist and General Overseer of Abel Damina Ministries, Pastor Dr. Abel Damina spoke today on “The Law And The Prophets Part 12 (May 19, 2022)” via a live broadcast on his verified Facebook handle few minutes ago. The pastor while speaking on the topic, explained why God has no name.
Pastor Dr. Abel Damina: “The Old Testament does not have a complete revelation of God but what the Old Testament has is a progressive revelation of the character of God. This is because they didn’t have revelation knowledge, they were not born of the Spirit.
“So there was a gradual unfolding of the character of God through their activities in life. So when they experience God in a particular way, they gave Him a name that describes His personality. Adonai, Elohim, El Shaddai, El Elyon, Yahweh and others are little fragrances of an unveiling of God’s character.
“That is not a holistic revelation of God’s character because you can’t give God a name. Names are given to distinguish between objects and humans. God has no body in His class; so there is nobody to distinguish God from. Moses said what is your name and He said, I am what I am. I am, is not a name, it is a description of ability.
“That is to say that He can be whatever He wants to be. If He wants to be God the Father, He will, the Son, He will, and the Holy Ghost, He will. Stop giving Him names, you can only describe His ability based on your experience”.
