The art of asking questions is an important skill for any conversation. Asking questions can help you get more information, as well as clarity on issues you might not have understood before. In our human conversations, we encourage ourselves to ask questions when we have doubts. However, when we pray to our heavenly father, we just bring our request to him, and fail to ask him relevant questions to find out whether or not it’s his will.
Bishop Oyedepo said during the midweek communion service yesterday, that if you ask God a genuine question, you will receive a genuine answer. He encouraged his congregation to always pray the prayer of enquiry, in order to receive direction.
He said the reason why we don’t get answers sometimes is because we already know the answer to what we’re asking, but we don’t want to take the step.
“It’s just like a man asking God if it’s his will to divorce his wife and marry another woman. You already know what the will of God is,” the Bishop said.
David asked God questions before he took any step. When he faced the Philistines, he asked God for the strategy. When they came again, he did not assume the same strategy God gave him the last time would work again. Rather, he prayed the prayer of enquiry, and God gave him another strategy with which he used to defeat the Philistines.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you pray the prayer of enquiry before you take any major step. Be blessed.
