“I did not r@pe her, it was consensual” – Man accused of r@ping lady inside Church in Ogun says

Last week, it was made known that a 30 years old man, whose name was given as Ajibola Akindele was arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command, after he forcefully took advantage of his boss’ 20-year-old daughter when they were both sent to decorate a church at Ita Oshin area of Abeokuta. It was made known by the victim that when they got the church, some women were sweeping but as soon as the women left, the suspect pinned her down and took advantage of her.

However, in a news that was published by the Nigerian Tribune Newspaper online this morning, it was reported that Ajibola Akindele has narrated his own side of the story at the police station where he is being held, Lafenwa Divisional Police Headquarters, as he said they both agreed to carry out the act and that, he did not rap£ her as claimed by the victim.

Akindele in an interview with Nigerian Tribune said that, he was married with two children and that, after the victim’s parents called him for the church’s decoration, he made love advances to her that morning and she agreed, as he further said they’ve known each other for six years but they were not in relationship and that he likes her.

He said around 10am that same morning, after doing little decoration work, they both went to lie down at one corner of the church and while they were there, the victim was the one who pulled off her clothes. He said the act got exposed because, she was a virgin and after they finished sleeping with each other, her friend came around and noticed that there were blood stains on her dress, as her friend immediately called her mother who came to the church immediately.

When he was asked if he saw the act as a desecration of a holy place, the suspect did not say anything.

However, it was made known that the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, ordered the transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
