“I Kept My Kids Under Bed While the Mob Attacked my Husband with Cutlasses” -Widow of Kano Pastor

The daughter of a Pastor allegedly killed in Kano State has spoken concerning the gruesome killing of her father. The lady, Victoria Yohana, talked during the service of songs programme held in honour of her deceased father, Pastor Shuaibu Yohana.

The deceased was the leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Sumaila Local Government Area (LGA).

You may recall that a Pastor was allegedly mobbed to death in Kano state over religious issues. The victim, a 47-year-old clergyman, Shuaibu Yohana, was reportedly killed, and his residence, set ablaze. The victim’s school building was also set on fire by the assailants. The victim’s widow, Hannatu Yohana, has since narrated her ordeal while demanding justice.

Shuaibu’s loved ones spoke during a recent ceremony held in honour of the deceased.

Hannatu spoke concerning her husband’s death by saying, “We went to sleep around 9 pm, but we suddenly noticed that some youths had surrounded our residence, and they were chanting that they must kill him. They eventually broke into our house by pulling down the doors and windows. I quickly hid our children under the bed, but they attacked my husband with cutlasses, and they burnt down his school. I called for help after they left because my husband was in the pool of his blood. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.”

Speaking about her father’s demise, Victoria said, “I don’t know what to say. I felt like running mad after seeing what the assailants did to my father. My father loved me.”

Shuaibu’s Vice, Markus Kaza, said, “The killing of our leader is a great loss to us. We urge the government to help put a stop to such occurrences and protect us here.”
