Jesus is not wealthy but he has no lack : Benny Hinn Speaks on prosperity

This Pastor Benny Hinn matter dey sweet me o! I had tears in my eyes after screaming to high heavens when I heard the way he answered some questions. Not all perfect, but hitting the nail on the head with some of the answers o! He says he’d continue to affirm prosperity as it is taught in the bible but without the gimmicks of sowing and reaping. Thank You Jesus for what you’re doing with this man of God. My prayer is that he continues to walk this path unwavering. Here’s an excerpt from an interview with him:

Interviewer: Can people give money in exchange for healing?
Pastor Benny Hinn: No

Interviewer: What’s the biblical way to take an offering?

Pastor Benny Hinn: Biblically, the offering that people give should be given in faith and love to spread the message of salvation, to support ministries that are affecting lives. And giving is important because giving proves our love to the Lord. Paul the Apostle told the church in Corinth, ‘Prove the sincerity of your love through giving’…(I guess he’s referencing 2 Corinthians 8:8).

Interviewer: Does God want every believer to be wealthy?

Pastor Benny Hinn: God wants every believer to be blessed. Wealth is a different matter. Our Lord Jesus Himself was not wealthy but He had no lack. The Apostles were not wealthy but they had no lack…wealth and prosperity are not the same thing. Prosperity is no lack.

In short, he defines prosperity as having your needs met i.e. not lacking. And the way he answered the last question about wealth and God’s will is too direct. Same examples every sincere preacher I know have cited. These things are actually too simple to see! Also, I like to add that Paul cited being in lack at some point, but the point is he had his needs met at different times.

1 Corinthians 4:11-13; “To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.”

2 Corinthians 11:27; “in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness…”

2 Corinthians 6:4&10; “But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses, as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.”

Philippians 4:11-14; “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.”

The extremes of the ‘prosperity gospel’ preachers reached its peak when some of them began to make arrogant statements like, ‘Paul didn’t have the revelation of prosperity.’ What?! These are things I have spoken against and will keep speaking against, even when many deliberately and mischievously misconstrue the things said because of their greed and covetousness. It’s such a happy day to be alive. Still believing the best of Pastor Benny Hinn…! And you? Go read your bible more!
