Fast-rising Ifa Priest and Worshipper in Nigeria, Oluwo Olawole Olakunle has revealed how he was able to achieve his dream of becoming an Ifa Priest despite all the challenges he passed through in an interview that he had with BBC Yoruba.
According to the Ifa Worshipper whose name was identified as OLAWOLE OLAKUNLE, he revealed that he was given birth to by a religious parent. As a matter of fact, he said that he and his parents were members of the Deeper Life Bible Church before he converted to become a worshipper of IFA.
Oluwo Olawole made mention that, he started his journey on the quest for the knowledge of Ifa after his parents relocated to a house they built beside an herbalist home. According to him, the attitudes and behaviors of this herbalist and his family members pushed him into finding ways on how to learn the art and craft of Ifa. He said it was very easy for him because an herbalist was living beside his parent’s home and another one lives close to his school.
Talking on why he decided to learn Ifa, he said that herbalist who lives beside his parent’s house always bring food to them of which his Mum will always dispose of but that didn’t stop them from doing more. It was this single act from that that motivated him to move closer to them and he also discovered that they are always praying and not doing badly as a lot of people thought.
He also made mention of how his parents disowned him after they discovered he was converted to being an Ifa Worshipper. Although, he said his parents made a lot of effort trying to make him change back to being a Christian they weren’t successful and they even called a Pastor to deliver him but all of that ended in futility.
At the end of his interview, he urged Youths to stay away from crime and he also made mention that Ifa priests and worshippers are not as bad as a lot of people thought.
