New Catholic Rev. Sisters Professed in Akwa Ibom State (See Photos)
Yesterday, being the first Sunday in the month of December marked a joyful event in the lives of the Catholic Faithfuls of Uyo Diocese as new Professed Rev. Sisters were being celebrated.
The celebration which witnessed the presence of high ranking priests and Senior Rev. Sisters, took place at the Sisters’ Convent in Uyo.
The said Rev. Sisters were Professed on Saturday, 6th December,2020 in their home diocese, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, after having completed their sisters studies at the Notre Dame Schools in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
Rev. Sisters are girls and women who voluntarily accept to be unmarried to men so as to enabled them dedicate themselves to the service of God and humanity throughout their lives time. They are usually, theologically addressed as ‘Christ’s Brides’ .

In the Catholic Church, Rev. Sisters are Professed to assist in various religious duties in the Catholic institutions including the church, hospitals, schools, convents, motherless homes, as well in preparation and maintenance of sacramtals in the church. Some of them work within their diocese of origin while others work as missionaries in other countries.
