I will love to show interesting facts about a renowned and an influential late Nigerian pastor. The remarkable man of God who was instrumental to almost all the Christian revivals which happened in Nigeria.
The Nigeria’s oldest Pastor was said to have married a woman 77 years his junior. According to reports from many sources, these great pastor was said to have been very agile and strong even till his 114 years of age.
This oldest Nigerian pastors was Pastor Samuel Sadela, founder and president of the Gospel Apostolic Church.
Reverend Samuel Akinbode Sadela was born in Ifon Osun State, on 25 August 1900? – and live till 26 August 2014.
According to Wikipedia, he was a Nigerian pastor and an unverified claimant for the world’s oldest man. If his age is true, he would have been the oldest living man, the oldest living person in Africa , the oldest person in Nigeria, and the 10th oldest living person.
He put an amazing 82 years into the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Sadela is also known for being married at 107 years old to a 30 years old woman.
His first marriage, which yielded seven children, none of whom survived infancy, lasted 21 years. He married his second wife in 1965 and had four children, two of whom died. She passed away in 2001. So in 2007, he married his third wife who is a 30 years old woman.
His first school was St. Paul’s Primary School in Ifon Osun . In 1914, he was forced to drop out of school and start working as houseboy to one Captain Pullen, a District Officer. In 1918, he returned to school. He went to the University of London in 1925. After graduation, he became a priest.
There was a time he said miracles started taking place in his ministry when he was 90 years. He was a highly respected pastor. This was a man who would mount the pulpit like a 40 year-old. He was a living testimony of what God could do in the lives of the faithful.
