Sinach Breaks Record As The First Nigeria Gospel Artiste To Win Dove Awards
Gospel singer Sinach hasn’t only done well for herself but broken a record. Being the first Nigerian gospel singer to win a Dove Award.
The prestigious award can be said to be the equivalent of the Grammys for gospel singers.
It’s awarded by the by the Gospel Music Association of the United States.
Osinachi Kalu Okoro Egbu aka Sinach emerged the winner for Song of the year for her powerhouse track Way Maker, beating notable gospel singers like Kirk Franklin and Jason Ingram.
The huge song took over the airwaves globally since its release 5 years ago and has been covered by gospel icons such as former Hillsong lead singer Darlene Zschech, Michael W. Smith,
and William McDowell. On Youtube the song’s official video has been raking in views and stands at 146m views of recent. Making her one of the most streamed African gospel artist.
The Ebonyi state-born singer is one of the mega talents discovered and managed by Loveworld Music of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s Christ Embassy church, and can be said to be the record label’s biggest export. Loveworld music also boasts of Nigerian gospel heavyweights such as Frank Edwards, Jahdiel, Ada Ehi, Joe Praize, and Buchi Atuonwu.
