Some people borrowed money to send their children to school abroad – Bishop David Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo, the leader of Living Faith Church, told his congregation that they should not spend more than they make.

Bishop David Oyedepo said during a church service that most of the problems people have are because they don’t know enough. He said that some people rent houses bigger than their businesses and income, while others drive cars worth more than their capital. He said that this kind of life is a lie.

Bishop Oyedepo went on to say that he couldn’t be tempted to rent a house in Ikeja that cost 45,000 Naira a year because if he had, he would have retired to the village.

He told the story of how, back then, he sent one of his sons to buy him a pair of shoes. When the son came back with a pair of shoes worth 700 Naira, he asked the son if the shoes had engines. He said he wasn’t good enough to wear a shoe worth 700 Naira then.

He said that getting wise is the most important thing in life. He said that he has never sent any of his kids to a school where he couldn’t pay for their tuition. He said that there was a school near his home in Kaduna, but he couldn’t send his kids there because the school fees were too high for what he made. He was sad that some people took out loans to send their kids to school abroad. He said that wasn’t smart because you’d have to get another loan to pay off the first one, and so on.
