Stop Calling Your Husband Baby All The Time – Dr. Becky Enenche

Dr. Becky Enenche, spoke to ladies in the church on how they ought to treat their husbands and have a better marriage. Using her own marriage, as an illustration, she revealed that one day somebody went to her husband’s office and told him that he needs to have other friends; his wife is not supposed to be his only friend. He was advertising himself as a friend. She then claimed that they (she and her husband) are friends; he can crack jokes and she can understand what he’s saying. He cracks a lot of jokes when he’s in a joking mood; otherwise, he’s in the spirit and praying but when he comes back from prayer, he can be just so absolutely sweet.

She then explained that inasmuch as all that is done, she does not talk to him anyhow. She does not call him by his name and talks down at him. She said that it doesn’t matter what she wants to communicate, she has the mental understanding that he’s her superior officer. According to her, she realized that many women handle their husbands with a lot of levity. “Am sorry, don’t call me old-fashioned but this issue of calling your husband baby, I don’t understand,” she said. She said that it is not a crime if men call their wife baby, but if she keeps calling him baby, she starts seeing him as a baby.

“Once in a while you can call him baby, but you shouldn’t make it an established title,” she continued. She said that she’s not expecting them to see their husbands like someone who is very fearful and strict; someone whom the children would always be afraid of, but they should see him as someone with a respectful disposition; someone with the referential disposition of honour. She said that you cannot be in public and you join people who are saying bad things about your husband. You should stand with him and say that whatever he thinks, you believe what he said.

Finally, she advised the lady that they should be their husband’s cheerleader. Their assignment in his life is to help him just as God created a helper for Adam. Talking to the married women, he advised them to always look exactly how their husbands married them. They are not expected to change their look and become the totally different lady that he married.
