Pastor Evelyn Joshua, leader of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), on Friday attended the funeral of the late former governor of Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu.
The funeral service was held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Anglican Church, Imola, Owo.
Evelyn, wife of the late SCOAN founder Prophet TB Joshua, was present at the funeral with one of her daughters.
Joshua was a native of Arigidi Akoko in Ondo State and was the pride of the state while he was alive.
Last year, SCOAN reopened and rededicated its branch in Akure, Ondo State capital.
Akeredolu’s death occurred on December 27, 2023, two years after he attended the funeral service for Joshua at SCOAN headquarters in the Ikotun area of Lagos.
At the funeral, Akeredolu revealed that Joshua gave him some money following his electoral victory.
He described the late preacher as one who positively impacted many people with his philanthropic gestures as well as his spiritual gifts.
“He touched lives of special people economically and spiritually. We want to recall him for the great works he did on this side of the divide,” Akeredolu said.
“I can testify personally to the good things I have benefitted from him. When I won the governorship election in Ondo State. He drove to Owo and something went wrong with his vehicle in Akure.
“He told me he has come to wish me well and pray. And when he was leaving he put something in my pocket. I won’t tell you how much he put in my pocket,” Akeredolu said, but did not indicate whether it was after the 2016 or 2020 polls.
Joshua died at the age of 57 while Akeredolu died at 67.
