Jesus Christ gave us a model to follow when we pray in his sermon on the mount. Along with the model, he also gave instructions for us to follow as we pray. One of the instructions he gave was against vain repetitions, with the aim of praying long prayers. He likened prayers of that nature to the prayers of the hypocrites. He said they think that God will hear them because of their much speaking.
Bishop David Abioye has said that the longevity of your prayers is not what determines whether or not you will receive answers. Rather, the quality of faith in your prayer is what will guarantee your answers.
