Apostle Joshua Selman, the founder of Eternity Network International spoke to his members about the concept of ‘Spiritual Pride.’
He told the story of a popular man of God and how pride brought him down. He was a mighty general who was used by God powerfully but he got to a point where people told him that he is Elijah, the Prophet. When they said that he gave glory to God. Eventually, they made him believe that he is Elijah and he also started believing it. He went and sew the regalia and at that God was using Maria Woodward-Etter, the American healing evangelist.
When he saw that God was using her mightily, he persecuted her because he felt that she is a woman and because he thought that he is the only one that God is using. According to the man of God, he served God but he did not finish well. He said that in the state of pride there is nothing you will not believe which is why you need to ask God for mercy. The things that are written afore time are for our learning so that we can learn lessons from them.
He further revealed that it is as a result of Spiritual Pride that dishonor has crept into the body of Christ. Everybody is correcting everybody. Somebody who has not even started ministry is standing at the back of the tree, calling fathers and insulting everybody.
Finally, he said that whenever he has the honour and privilege to meet any of our fathers in the faith or anyone who has gone ahead, it does not matter what they are saying as he sits down quietly as if he does not know anything in ministry. He said that he has seen honour, the grace of God, Jesus and has stood before Kings. He said that he knows what it means to have spiritual progress, but the way up is to remain on your knees.
