Pastor David Ibiyeomie, in his sermon today during the fifth day of Glory Reign, preached on the things the Holy Spirit can do for a believer, and the fifteenth point he mentioned was that the Holy Spirit is the spirit of vengeance and judgment.
He said that some people might not like that point. He rebuked people from praying for God to have mercy on their enemies. He said that Christians who pray such prayers would not last.
“If an armed robber points a gun to your face, will you pray for God to have mercy on him? You pray for him to die,” the pastor said.
He then proceeded to lay fearful curses on the enemies of the members of his church.
“God is a killer God,” he said. “I pray your enemies see the killer side of God today!”
He told the story of how a particular cult was out to get him when he started ministry in Port Harcourt. He said that when they tried to destroy him spiritually and failed, they tried to tarnish his image by speculating that the reason he could not open branches was that he buried an egg in his altar, and the miracles he did would not be replicated in other branches.
By the time he started to open branches, the members of the cult began to die one after the other. He said only one member was left, who confessed everything, gave his life to Christ, and was now a member of the church.
He told his congregation that if he prayed for God to show mercy to the occultic group, perhaps he would have been dead by now.

Jesus Christ said – “Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.” (Matthew 5:7)
Jesus again says “But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” (Luke 6:35-36)
“For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” (James 2:13)
These people teaching these prayers against enemies do not know God and are not born of God (it does not matter how many followers they have) – scripture says they are evil doers – we are to expose them and flee from them –
“Everyone who doesn’t continue to teach what Christ taught doesn’t have God. The person who continues to teach what Christ taught has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and doesn’t bring these teachings, don’t take him into your home or even greet him. Whoever greets him shares the evil things he’s doing.” (2 John 1:9-11)
“Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11)
