The conventional practice in the Nigeria religious practice, confers and embodies Every Pastor/Preacher/General Overseer and Bishop’s wife with some level of authority and power.
In every congregation that is being tendered by a Pastor or General Overseer, the wife automatically becomes the leader of all the women and ladies in the church, in some instances, the wife is conferred with the same reverence accorded to the man, which then gives her the authority to issue orders and even oversee church activities.
Colloquially this has given birth to a little “Mummy G. O” depicting the level authority and office occupied by the Overseer’s wife.
Popular Nigerian Human rights activists and outspoken figure, Reno Omokri has recently called out this practice stating that it goes against scriptural principles.
Reno made this known through a tweet on his official twitter handle where condemned the roles of Pastor’s wife, alleging that they posses no legitimate authority in the church.
