Pastor Mrs. Faith Oyedepo, the wife of Bishop David Oyedepo spoke to ladies in the church about a very important issue in my marriage proposal. According to her, when you are convinced about a particular person as it relates to marriage, it is important to use wisdom to allow him to also be convinced. She said that marriage is not by force but by agreement. It is not wise to force a romantic relationship so that you don’t end up regretting it.
Using her personal example, she said that before her husband, Bishop David Oyedepo approached her with the intent of marriage, God had already revealed it to her. However, she didn’t tell him or anyone about it. She waited for him to make his intention known and when he did, she made sure she waited for the right time. She said that it is 40 years after and her testimony is that she married someone who makes her fall in love with God every single day of her life. “I can’t be more grateful to God,” she said.
Finally, she said that you need to look before you leap, especially, the ladies. Just because society is confused about the role of men and women does not mean that Christians should be. According to her, courtship is a commitment not to play a game with another person’s heart. Don’t rush to accept a proposal. Spend time to pray and seek godly counsel before you give him your response if need be.
