The authority of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), worldwide, has suspended five senior elders from worshipping at the New Jerusalem Parish 9, Ilorin, Kwara State.
According to the suspension letter cited by Daily Trust with the No: CCC/EMF/PO/AD-FCE001/02-22 and signed by the spiritual Head of CCC, Reverend Bilehou Oshoffa, the affected elders are to proceed on two years suspension.
The letter was read by the church Task Force Chairman, F.A Adjovic during service on Sunday.
Adjovi stated that the decision to suspend the elders; Senior Evangelist Paul Mayaki, Lawrence Bolaji, Elder Samuel Awofadu, Elder Sunday Fashakin and Elder Mayowa Olajide from worshipping at the parish is for peace to reign in the House of God.
The Church National Authority also dissolved all church committee, the choir, Youth committee and the Siemens unit.
Adjovi however, urged members who have already registered as church workers at the Admin Office to report at the World Headquarters, Imeko, Ogun State for postings.
A church member who spoke on the issue with our correspondent said the affected elders were fueling crisis in the church by claiming that they were the foundation members and that new members have no say in the church.
“This is against the fact that the CCC owns the church”, he said.
Reacting to the development, one of the affected elders, Senior Evangelist Paul Mayaki said he was okay with the decision of the church.
“They didn’t say we should not attend other celestial church, it’s only the New Jerusalem parish 9. For me, I am totally okay with the two years suspension because the church is supreme”.
“However, on the issue that our activities is not fostering peace, they cannot enjoy our activities there because some people are trying to lay ownership to the church which I vehemently objected as an employee of the headquarters”, he added.
