Check Out Some Nigerian Pastors who Were Born Into Muslim Families

According to 1999 Nigeria Constitution (as amended), citizens have the right to choose a place of worship. However, many Nigerians have been reportedly switched from the religion of their birth to that of their choice.

There are some Nigerian Pastors and General Overseers who were born into Muslim families but later, they switched religion. According to reports these Pastors switched religion and later opened their own Churches in different parts of the country.

In this article, we will look at four Nigerian Pastors who were born into Muslim families but later switched religion.

1. Apostle Johnson Suleman:

The first on the list is Apostle Johnson Suleman. According to sources, he was born into a Muslim family in Benin, Edo State.

Apostle Suleman later founded his own Church, Omega Fire Ministries in 2004 in Auchi, Edo State. His church have grown to be one of the popular churches in Nigeria with over 40 branches in Nigeria and other parts of the world.

2. Pastor Tunde Bakare

Pastor Babatunde Gbolahan Bakare popularly called Tunde Bakare is one of the popular Nigerian Pastors born into Muslim homes. According to his Wikipedia profile, he was born into Muslim family but later converted to Christianity in 1974.

Before he founded his own Church, The Latter Rain Assembly (End Time Church), Pastor Tunde Bakare was said to have been a Pastor in Deeper Life Bible Church before he left to join the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

He is one of the very outspoken Pastors in Nigeria especially, to national issues.

3. Pastor Mathew Oshimolowo:

The founder and General Overseer of the Kingsway International Christian Center (KICC), Pastor Mathew Oshimolowo is another popular Nigerian Pastor that was born into a Muslim home.

The General Overseer of KICC made the revelation during one of his interview with Channels Television, Arise programme. Pastor Oshimolowo revealed that after the death of his father who was a military officer, he switched faith to Christianity at the age, 22 years.

According to him, after he became ‘born again’, his Aunt introduced him to Christ Apostolic Church(C.A.C), where he was nurtured in Christian faith.

4. Prophet Joshua Iginla:

Prophet Joshua Iginla is another Nigerian Pastor who was born into a Muslim home. According to his Wikipedia profile, he was born to Muslim parents in Ado-Ekiti. He later converted to Christianity.

Prophet Joshua Iginla is the founder and senior Pastor of Champions Royal Assembly.
