China Bans Worship Services And Prayer Meetings Even In Homes And Claims that it is due to Covid-19
With the dawn of the Corona virus, several religious activities have been cracked down. In California, singing and chanting were banned and then Germany and other countries followed.
The report by New York Times has it that churches’ activities including singing, increases the chances of easily spreading the infection as details show in the US, South Korea, Britain, Germany and the Netherlands.
Recently, China took a more extreme action under the cover of Corona virus. The CBN news has it is almost a form of persecution under the leadership of president Xi Jumping. The present pandemic is for China, an opportunity to also arrest Christians who call for on-line prayer meetings.
Recall that China removed crosses from churches claiming that it violates national rules. Now it has been extended to cracking down families’ meeting of Christians.
The president of China Aid, Bob Fu, said that what is happening in China is part of a campaign of sinicization. It is for him an attempt to clearly say to Christians that, if they adhere to the Communist ideology, they would be considered good citizens.
To explain further, Mr. Fu recalled the irony of putting the portraits of president Xi Jinping and chairman Mao on churches which means that what Christians should worship first are those portraits.
However, China’s attack has not been on churches only. Chinese national security law, the use of Uyghurs for labour, etc, are other moves by the Chinese government that generally hampers human peaceful coexistence.
Beautifully, the US secretary of state, Mike Pompeo encapsulates China’s excesses in the following words, ” China is home to one of the worst Human rights crisis of our time. It is truly the stain of the country. “
Don’t you think that China should reconsider their stance especially those infringing human rights?
