“I Don’t Owe Any Man Thank You Because God Pays Me” – Bishop Oyedepo

On the third encounter night session of Shiloh 2021, Bishop David Oyedepo continued the series he started on the first day. For this session, he began to talk about things that stir up the supernatural faith required for living the life of more than a conqueror. One of the things he listed was having encounters with the word of God.

The Bishop began to give an experience of the encounter he had with God from the word. He said that when he was called to go into ministry full time, he asked God who will pay him. He was concerned about this because he vowed never to steal, and he refused to beg. The Bishop said that God led him to St. Matthew 10:7-10 which says;

“And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.”

He concluded from that encounter that God would pay him and he should never lobby around any man’s resources. He believed that as long as he was on God’s assignment, he would be on God’s payroll.

“I have never gone to any man’s house to ask him ‘Can you spare some bread?’ or ‘Is God putting anything in your heart?’ I owe no man a thank you. God pays me. As long as I stay on my job, I am on his payroll.”

He then commanded the ministers of the gospel who attended Shiloh 2021, to stay on their job. He expressed his displeasure at those he termed “Bible lazy ministers”, who don’t put in the work required.

“I can show you the notes I wrote after all my Bible study. They are in cartons. I am constantly working, and that is why he pays me,” Bishop Oyedepo said.
