Pastor WF Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church spoke about The Personal Price of Glorifying God and Eating Without Offence in the second point of his message during a recent bible study program with his members. He claimed that one’ s conscience should always be active when it comes to the things that he or she takes inside the body. He read from the book of 1 Corinthians 10: 27 which says
” If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience”
The man of God told its members what to do when a lunch or any meal. He said there is nothing wrong if a kind neighbour (whether a believer or an unbeliever) invite one for a lunch treat with members of his family. The man of God said it could even be an avenue and an opportunityto preach the gospel to them.
He goes further to read verse 28 which says
” But if someone says to you, This has been offered in sacrifice, then do not eat it, both for the sake of the one who told you and for the sake of conscience”
He said that if there are questions about what you are eating and possibly it is not just an ordinary lunch that you were invited to. They remember their gods and idols and they are inviting you; your conscience should immediately come into action. They invite you to come for lunch and someone else tells you that it is not just an ordinary lunch; they are remembering their father and mother who died, and they believe that if they give food to people, God will take their father/mother out of the place of punishment into paradise. You should say NO.
