Is Sex The Only Reason God Instituted Marriage?

….

Recently, I was having some discussions with my fellow corp members and we got to the part of marriage, for two (2) hours the only issue we could discussed in marriage is the issue of SEX, all effort to make us talk about some other issues in marriage was abortive.

That wasn’t the first time i see or witness such,, all attention and expectations of some youth’s are focused on sex in marriage.

Don’t get me wrong, it is important to discuss the issue of sex in marriage before going into marriage, but what about other areas that need serious attention?

Is sex the only reason God instituted marriage? No…

…….

A marriage that is driven by sex alone would most likely collapse, as love and sex is not enough to build a home.

…………

Can we also sit down and talk about how well our marriages can represent God’s character, love, and grace ?

Our marriage should be a mirror that reflects the love of Christ, so that when others witness our marriage relationship, they see that just as Jesus loved the church so much that he gave up his life for her, the husbands also love their wives and as the church submits to Christ, the wife submits to, and respects her husband.

Can we also sit down and talk about: When people see our marriage what will they think?

Are you envious of your spouse?

Are you boastful?

Do you think you are better than your spouse?

Are you rude?

Are you selfish?

Do you get angry easily?

Do you keep track of your spouse’s offenses?

Are you happy when he/she get what they deserves?

Do you always protect her physically, spiritually, emotionally, trust her, and think the best of her?

All these and many more are also what we should prioritise and discuss…

Note: It takes Sacrifice and hard work to maintain a marriage of love, unity, and understanding.
