A young man narrated to BBC News that the day he decided to go to work instead of going to church was the same day the Owo Catholic church was attacked by gunmen. The young man who is also a member of the Catholic church said that he didn’t go to church on that Sunday, but decided to go to work instead, but his wife and his son went to church that day.
He narrated that he was in his workshop when he started hearing gunshots towards the church place, initially, he didn’t know that the sound of the gunshot was at the church, not until he heard people saying that the Owo Catholic church is under attack. Immediately after he heard that he locked up his workshop and ran towards the church which is not too far from his workshop.
When he reached there, he saw many people lying lifeless on the ground, and many were injured. He was seriously looking for his family immediately after he arrived at the church. Then he saw his wife lying amongst the dead people. Fortunately, his wife was still alive but was badly injured that she couldn’t walk. He asked her about his son, she told him that she doesn’t know where he is.
He decided to search for his son since he’s seen his wife. A few moments later, he saw his son outside the church unharmed, then he headed a sigh of relief, then took his injured wife to the hospital. The young man thanked God for keeping his family safe and alive amongst a lot of people who lost their lives in the church on that fateful Sunday.
