The place of leadership and governance is open to every citizen of country, but many then to shy away from this as it is considered a gray area ( not stated explicitly) of their faith, but then a holiness Preacher Pastor Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Christian Ministry during an interview with Dove TV (posted on YouTube by Reality Steve), gave his opinion on this.
He said and I quote
“If there’s a calling that you know and you feel, and you know God is calling you to this, and you’re responsible to God and you’re going to answer to God ultimately and you’re conscious of that every time, then you go into politics. And you’re not going to work by popular opinion or whatever. You’re responsible, you’re skilled, you’re intelligent, you’re educated, you’re trained for it, because a teacher is not born, he’s trained, a doctor is not born, he’s trained, a preacher is not born, he’s trained, a politician is not born, he’s trained, but he has a calling”.
He was explained further that if a Christian’s calling is into politics then that Christian is answerable to God and not man, he/ she should take timely inventory of his/ her activities as they would give account to God. He further said “after getting into politics, you won’t have to be sucked into any bad system. You’re there because you are called, and you’re fulfilling a call, and you will know that after you’ve left, this is the trace of the mark you left behind”.
Being a Christian means living a life of purpose, and in order to achieve purpose one needs to get specific directions from God on what to do and what not to do. Christain directed or instructed by God to venture into politics should always seek God’s help.
