“Stop Saying ‘I Claim It’, There Is Nothing To Claim” – Bishop Oyedepo Says

Have you ever been in church one day, and after a great testimony from a member, another member seating next to you shouts “I claim it”? That phrase has become a popular phrase in pentecostal christianity. However, it might not be correct according to God’s servant, Bishop David Oyedepo.

During the Covenant Hour of Prayer session today, Bishop Oyedepo revealed that there is nothing to claim in the faith, and saying “I claim it” is a sign of spiritual laziness. He said there is no reward for slothfulness in the kingdom, and if you like a particular grace someone carries, or a particular testimony an individual shared, you must find out what they did to get it, and when you do the same, you will get the same result.

“Can you go on the street and point to a house and say ‘I claim this house; it is now my own’? That is broad daylight robbery! If you do that, you will end up in court”, the Bishop said.

He told the story of how he desired the kind of power he saw the apostles operate in from the book of Acts. He went on a fast to ask God for it with intense desire, and he got it.

“After that day, I was in the house of a friend, and they wanted me to pray for the food they were about to eat. After I prayed, they couldn’t eat the food again. I don’t know what I said, but all of them began to pray seriously in the Holy Ghost,” the Bishop said.

He lamented that people were just too lazy to do the required work, in order to get the required results. He said that if you just admire the grace and the testimonies, you will get nothing but entertainment. However, if you find out what was done, and do it, then you will get your results, because our God is a covenant keeping God, and not a Father Christmas kind of God, who just gives anything to anybody.
