The Effect Of Unforgiveness, When We Have an Unforgiving Heart, We Are Welcoming This Spirit – Pastor Danny Silk

“When you hold on to unforgiveness towards someone, you are bringing division into the Kingdom of heaven.”

Danny Silk talks about the effect of unforgiveness on a relationship and even on the Kingdom of God.

Unforgiveness

In any kind of relationship, it is expected that we feel some sort of pain because it is common that other people can fail us. However, when we respond with unforgiveness to those who caused us pain, we are welcoming more pain into our hearts, into our relationship.

Danny is reminding us all today that vengeance is not for us. Only God can seek justice to those who did us wrong.

“It’s not likely that you’re going to get through a relationship without experiencing some sort of failures, some sort of pain. So, this idea of unforgiveness puts us in a position where we feel like we’re going to take vengeance, we’re going to get justice ourselves. The Bible’s very clear that vengeance doesn’t belong to us, it belongs to the Lord,” Danny said.

Trust the Lord

If we want to keep our relationship with other people, we should always be quick to forgive. Forgiving is trusting the Lord to settle the injustice. It is trusting the Lord of peace that He will bring peace to the matter.

“It’s [forgiveness] not optional, it’s not something you can ponder, it’s not something that you just wait around until you feel like doing. It is a crucial part of keeping your loved one,” he explained.

The effect of unforgiveness on the Kingdom of God is division. When we have an unforgiving heart, we are welcoming the spirit of division among us.

“When you hold on to unforgiveness towards someone, you are bringing division into the Kingdom of heaven. You’re operating in an opposite spirit, you’ve invited fear into the situation, into the relationship.”

Let hearts be filled with forgiveness and love for one another. The Lord wants to settle the matters of our heart for us, let Him be the God over your relationship.
