There is no such thing as a Prophet of God who Predict which football team will win – Rev. Fr. Kelvin Ugwu
Rev. Fr. Kelvin Ugwu, a Catholic priest from Nigeria who is currently serving in Malawi, recently shared on Facebook his thoughts on why a true prophet of God does not engage in gambling or make predictions about the future.
He believes that a prophet of God is more than just someone who predicts the future. A prophet of God isn’t someone who predicts the result of a football match or when you’ll purchase a car or obtain a visa. The word “prophet” comes from a Greek compound word. It means to speak on behalf of someone, or, in modern terms, to be a spokesperson. A prophet of God is someone who speaks on behalf of God.
The important thing is that what was said should not be related to the future. The important thing is that we should only say what God himself has said. While it is possible to make accurate predictions about the future, it’s important to note that if these predictions do not come from a divine source, they cannot be considered prophecies.
