AchTithes And Offering are Not Part of the Law of Moses, But You Have To Be Obedient To God – Pastor Kumuyi

Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry spoke to his members about “Living In Abundance Through Giving By Faith.”

In his first sub-topics, he talked about Fruitfulness Through Tithes And Offering and he read from Malachi 3:10-12. He said that for us to be progressive, productive and fruitful, we must be obedient to the Lord, and give our tithes and offerings to Him. I hope you have the understanding that tithe and offering are not part of the law of Moses, and you are not thinking that when the law of Moses passed away, tithes and offering also passed away. No. Tithes and offerings had begun before the law of Moses and the old covenant, and it still went on even after the law of Moses had gone.

He then spoke on Believer’s Conviction On Tithes And Offering and said that the Priest of the Highest God, Melchizedek called Him the Possessor of the heaven and earth, therefore, everything we have belongs to God. Abraham also realized it and blessed God who delivered his enemies into his hand and gave him a tithe of all. “To the God of all heaven and earth, the minimum and basic thing you can do is to give Him a tenth of all: your money, possession, time and everything you have. He even merits more than the tenth part, being the Owner of all.

Before we give our substances, we give ourselves to God first without any rival or competition, with no idol or strange god sitting on the throne of our hearts. He is our God and heavenly Father, and we are His children.

“Even in our human family, if our children would grow up to be grateful children after we have trained them through school, they ought to give us a part of their income to take care of us. We also have to give to God a tenth of our income, even after we have built a sanctuary for Him. One will not replace the other. Don’t say because you contributed to building the place of worship for God, you will no longer pay your tithe or give offering to Him.”

Finally, he read from 2 Corinthians 8:3-5 and explained that the brethren in the churches of Macedonia were willing of themselves to give to God because selfishness and self-centeredness have been taken out of their lives. The stony, self-willed hearts have been taken away, so they did not need anyone to remind or force them to pay their dues to God. They even pleaded with the apostles to receive their offerings after first of all giving themselves and their hearts to God.
